Blog 5: Netnography Proposal

For my netnography project I want to observe the families on YouTube that blog about their lives. I want to mostly focus on The Labrant family. I will be watching their posts, what content they talk about, which posts get the most likes and comments, the followers and how they insert the values and ideas these families give them into their lives, and how the vlog families interact with one another. The Labrant family uploads videos once a week usually and they also use their Instagram to promote their videos and followers to keep up with their lives. I will be using YouTube and Instagram as the two platforms I follow to observe and measure their activity. The thesis I am looking at exploring is how these youtubers influence their followers lives and keep them interested in the content they post. I want to dig deep at want makes watching their videos and seeing how they live so intriguing. Before this project I already observe and follow this family in particular so I know that many people are invested in watching them vlog about their lives and how they make a living off of it. I think YouTube is a great platform to measure activity as well because you can see how many likes and comments the videos have and also see if they come up on the trending page or popular against other similar YouTube videos. YouTube is an extremely popular way to promote things on and is easy to get addicted to watching videos after videos on. I am looking forward to keeping track of this family over the next month or so.
